What remote care can and cannot do
A remote consultation is useful for many questions, but a doctor cannot examine you through a screen. When something needs to be felt, listened to, measured or tested in person, the doctor will tell you, and the coordinator can help arrange it — at home through HomeCure, or at a clinic or hospital.
In your first message, send the service name only. Please do not send medical details or files until the coordinator explains how records are shared.
What remote care can help with
- Talking through symptoms that are not an emergency and deciding what to do next.
- Explaining test results and medical reports you already have.
- Going over your medicines and how to take them, in step with the doctor who prescribed them.
- Advising whether you need an examination, a test, a home visit or hospital care.
- Following up after a hospital stay, a procedure or a new result.
What remote care cannot do
- It cannot provide emergency care. In an emergency in Egypt, call the ambulance on 123.
- It cannot replace a physical examination. Some problems can only be assessed in person.
- It does not replace the doctor who is treating you. We can explain and advise; decisions about your ongoing treatment stay with you and your treating doctor.
- It cannot promise a diagnosis. Sometimes the honest answer is that you need to be examined or tested first.
- It cannot promise a prescription. Whether one is appropriate depends on the doctor’s clinical judgement and on what is permitted for remote care.
- It is not intended for certificates or official medical reports, unless the coordinator confirms otherwise before you agree.
If you are unsure
If you are not sure whether your question suits a remote consultation, tell the coordinator the service you are asking about. They will explain the options, including seeing a doctor at home or in person.
When we will advise in-person care
The doctor may advise you to be seen in person if the problem needs an examination, if your symptoms are new and could be serious, if a test is needed, or if the video or phone connection does not allow a safe assessment. If that happens, we will explain why and what your options are, including a home visit or test through HomeCure.
Who decides
The doctor decides what can be safely assessed remotely. You can always ask for an in-person option instead.
